Learn A Healthy Way For Teens To Lose Weight

Filed under: Nutrition, Eating Habits - crunchy @ 8:37 am

Teens are very susceptible to ads seen on television. There are some on the home television shopping network that promise to lose those extra pounds by going on a diet in just two weeks.

These usually focus on a low calorie diet plan. Although there is nothing wrong should this be done for an adult, again, this is harmful for teens. This is because a sudden loss in the calorie intake will prompt the body to take defensive measures and force one to eat a lot later on to compensate of the deficiency.

In fact, the same effects will happen should the teenager even think of going on a starvation diet.

Another unsafe way to lose weight will be vomit out the food that was eaten. This is worse than starving oneself because the body expels hydrochloric acid that burns the throat and the teeth.

So, is there a healthy way for a teen to lose weight when they really need to? The answer is yes. The first step is admitting to oneself that it has to end and then sharing this problem with members in the family to get the help and support.

Eat More Protein To Build Muscle Mass

Filed under: Excercise, Fitness, Food, General, Eating Habits - crunchy @ 6:21 am

If you’re trying to build muscle you need to pay attention to your diet as much as, and possibly more, than your actual weight training. Depending on your body type, what you eat can make a huge difference in how much muscle mass you ultimately gain. Consuming a lot of protein is important for anybody trying to build muscle mass. Lean red meat, chicken, fish, and eggs are the top sources of protein. If you find it hard to take in enough protein during the day you should consider buying a protein supplement. Since the body can only digest so much protein at a time it’s best to eat some 5 or 6 times a day instead of the normal 2 or 3 so you get more protein where you want it.

The calorie content of foods

Filed under: Diets, Food, Health, Eating Habits - crunchy @ 5:51 pm

The calorie content of foods varies from one food to another, so the study of their calorie content is a never ending task. But all the same, it is interesting to study calories in foods, because there is so much you can learn about the different types of food you eat every day.

Some foods have high calories, while others have only a low amount of calories, but the energy they may produce could be the same. Calories do not provide an accurate picture of the energy a food can provide you, but it does give you a good indicator of how much risk it poses to your Body Mass Index (BMI).

So, if you worry about your weight, then the best option is to keep watch over your calorie intake each day, so that you don’t take in excess calories. High calorie foods are usually the fatty and oily type of foods, or those high in sugar content. Having a few chocolate bars a day, can lead to excess calorie intake - which isn’t good for all you who are dieting.
