Barbeque Ribs Are Recognizable

Filed under: Food, Meat, Beef - crunchy @ 2:33 am

When I first tried out some slow cooker country style barbeque ribs, I thought without a doubt that I had died and gone straight to heaven. My father’s barbeque ribs were always good growing up, but now I just about forgotten them as my teeth sank into that moist, succulent meat. I hadn’t heard of slow cooker ribs before so this was a pleasant surprise. My dad was always just a traditional grill kinda guy. Although he used his own barbecue spice rub, he could as well have left it off since he really knew how to grill them up.

With slower cooked ribs, nevertheless, the spices flow right in the meat in just the right amount. I cannot even explain how unbelievably tasty it is! I had always heard people saying that the meat will “fall off the bone” sometimes, but I had never actually realized that they literally meant that.

Filed under: Diets, Food, Meat, Nutrition, Carbohydrates - crunchy @ 8:50 pm

They’ve been around for a while now and not without controversy either.  But since the Dr. Atkins diet evolved and was proven to work, there also came the skeptics from other doctors, nutritionists, dieters who got sick and various study groups.  It wasn’t all bad though as there seemed to be as many experts backing the diet revolution as criticizing it. Since then the low carb high protein diets have been fine tuned and reintroduced under different names, and slimmers continue to buy into them simply because they really do work. Are you eating enough meat?

Fresh and Tasty, New England Clambake

Filed under: Good Food, Meat, Gourmet, Seafood - crunchy @ 9:38 pm

Clambakes were first introduced by Native Americans a few hundred years ago. Today, they are known as New England Clambakes, since they were first introduced in the New England region. Spring is a great time to have a clambake, so celebrate with your loved ones today.

The first clambakes were made in a pit. The pit was dug and filled partially with a layer of stones. Then it was layered with clams, potatoes, lobsters, and corn husks on top of hot stones with fresh seaweed separating the layers. Native Americans would make a fire in the pit to be able to cook the fresh seafood and veggies. When the fire is reduced to only hot ash and embers, they’d put the seafood on some very hot stones.

You can find many places to order your fresh shellfish for a healthy and fun clam bake. Clambake orders generally come in two different verities, the standard clambake and the super deluxe clambake. Both normally contain lobster, clam, chowder, and supplies you will need to prepare and serve your clambake. Mussels, shrimp, or other fresh shellfish are added for the super deluxe clambake.

Subject to the number of people attending, folks opting to hold a genuine clambake generally have a "standard clambake." Having extra shellfish gives the party a wider appeal, and increases the odds of people going home with full bellies. This, in turn, increases the likelihood of everyone at the clambake having a good time.

Contemporary clambakes aren’t usually done by cooking the food using historical baking methods. Nowadays people use a grill, stove or fire pit, so the ease of cleaning is an added incentive for hosting a clambake. Clambakes are perfect for picnics, patio parties, campground festivities and other outdoor occasions.

In addition to being fun, a clambake is a very healthy way to celebrate. Fresh food tends to be better for you than processed food, as a rule of thumb. Seafood in particular has several health benefits, especially fresh seafood. What better way, then, to have a great and healthy time than a clambake?

Clambakes are a unique and healthy alternative to many fast foods. This spring, why not think about throwing a classic American clambake for your family and friends? You can invite friends to have an adventure in your own backyard. Your guests are sure to be intrigued, and conversations will be lively.

It’s Safe To Buy Steaks Online

Filed under: Food, Meat, Shopping, Gourmet, Beef - crunchy @ 6:57 am

It’s honesty time. Remember that commercial about making Mikey eat it? Well, I kind of did that with a purchase of steaks online last Christmas. I was nervous about the condition and quality that an online steak purchase would arrive in, so I bought some for my neighbors for Christmas. I figured if they didn’t get sick from the online steaks, they would be okay for my family and me, too. Don’t tell anyone!

If you’re like me, you might be wondering if you’ll receive a fresh piece of beef that arrives in a cardboard box, damaged by heat or starting to rot. Rest assured, if you buy steaks online, you won’t get some creepy, smelly thing crawling with maggots delivered to your door.
