Is Organic Food Better?

Filed under: Food, Nutrition, Organic - crunchy @ 12:05 am

I have no wish to take up the vegetarian debate in this article. I respect vegetarians and acknowledge that a healthy and lean body can be developed with a vegetarian diet if it is done properly, although it may be more challenging for strict vegans to gain muscle for various reasons. However, in recommending animal protein as part of a healthy fat loss and muscle building nutrition program, I do agree that we all need to give some serious thought to what is in our meat (and in the rest of our food). Some people say that meat is part of our “evolutionary” diet and it’s the way we were intended to eat and I wouldn’t argue with that. But is the meat we’re eating in today’s modern society the same as what was hunted and eaten many thousands of years ago by our cave-man ancestors, or has some “toxic stuff” found its way into our beef, poultry and fish that wasn’t there before?

There is a Relation Between Health and Skin Care

Filed under: Food, Health, Herbs, Organic - crunchy @ 6:41 pm

We are probably already aware that there is a connection between our health and skin care. After all, people in general who are sick often lose skin coloration and are more vulnerable to blemishes and other problems with the skin. What considerable people at large probably are not aware that most of the skin care supplies available for procurement on discount store shelves or on websites may in fact not only be completely useless-they may actually worsening our health in the process!

Skin care for men is typically less complicated because of fewer problems with hormone fluctuation. There actually are differences between the various creams, lotions, moisturizers, ointments, and cleansers out there on the market today. Hormones are responsible for the production of the sebaceous glands.

However, while a skin care lotion made with synthetic chemicals will increase the production of free radicals and damage your health-a natural skin care item made with necessary oils will benefit skin care health because it has antioxidants which neutralize free radicals.

Smoking, drinking coffee, tea and colas can wreak havok on your teeth.

Filed under: Health, Herbs, Medical, Organic - crunchy @ 3:51 pm

Teeth whitening, also known as bleaching teeth is becoming a greatly popular option for people in general seeking a brighter smile. According to a survey conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, 74% of adults believe that having a less then perfect smile can actually impede your career. 99.87% of the adults surveyed said that having a acceptable smile was an asset to having a great social life. 96% of adults surveyed believed that a nice smile is necessary in making a favorable impression on the opposite sex. It is no wonder that professional tooth whitening has grown into a $300 million a year industry, and seen the number of dental patients seeking this treatment triple over that past five years.

Years of smoking, drinking coffee, tea and colas, and even eating remarkably pigmented foods can wreak havoc on your teeth, turning them grungy and yellow. Even if you are careful to brush your teeth after every meal, aging will cause your teeth to grow dull. Medications can also take away the sparkle in your tooth, causing you to look older than you really are. At one time, getting the dazzle back in your smile was time consuming and costly, but now, with all of the newly available advances in whitening teeth, it is easier than ever to get the smile you dream about.

Certain foods may trigger psoriasis flares.

Filed under: Food, Herbs, Nutrition, Organic, Eating Habits - crunchy @ 6:45 pm

Although researchers have not found a clear link between diet and psoriasis, certain foods may trigger flares in some people at large. If you believe a specific food or food group affects your flesh, try eliminating it for a time. Other than that, the healthiest apparoach to modifying your diet is the same one that’s recommended for most people: well-balanced meals that emphasize fresh produce, whole grains and meats that are low fat. Especially helpful are the right kinds of fatty acids, especially omega-three fatty acids, which are fundamental for healthy skin. Your body doesn’t produce omega-3s, instead you obtain them from food or supplements. The best dietary sources are fatty fish or fish oil capsules particularly salmon and salmon oil, flaxseeds and flaxseed oil, walnuts, and soybean and canola oils. Some dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale and broccoli contain modest amounts of omega-3s. Incorporating these foods into your regular everday diet can help dry skin, but it does even more for your overall health. Omega-3s lower triglyceride levels and lower your risk of heart hit and stroke. They also lower blood pressure and may mitigate the pain and inflammation of psoriatic arthritis.

Benefits Of Green Tea

Filed under: Health, Medical, Tea, Organic, Drinks - crunchy @ 11:47 pm

Some people have realized that benefits of green tea are far more healthier then cup of coffee in the morning. Green tea is derived from the same plant as black tea, they are just processed differently. Green tea contains polyphenols, known as catechins, which are powerful antioxidants. As shown in recent studies they fight viruses, slow aging, and free radicals that can damage cells and cause cancer or other diseases. Many believe that if you increase the amount of antioxidants in your diet you may reduce your risk of different forms of cancer.

Organically Grown Foods

Filed under: Food, Health, Nutrition, Vitamins, Organic - crunchy @ 12:06 pm

The term “organic foods” refers to the methods used to produce the foods rather than to characteristics of the food themselves. The most common concept of “organically grown” food was articulated in 1972 by Robert Rodale: Food grown without pesticides; grown without artificial fertilizers; grown in soil whose humus content is increased by the additions of organic matter, grown in soil whose mineral content is increased by the application of natural mineral fertilizers; has not been treated with preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, etc.
